Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Observation Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, Evenings, Nights, Rotating Shift Schedules, On Call, Call Back, Charge, Holidays, Weekends as needed Hours per Shift: 12.0 Experience: Minimum of two years in Med/Surg License: RN License (New York License ONLY) Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) ACLS (American Heart Association ONLY) NIHSS Telemetry Must-Have: RN License, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Telemetry, Two years of experience Description: The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if their condition is serious enough for admission or if they can be treated and released home safely. The environment is fast-paced, with a patient turnover rate of 20 to 27 patients per day. The average length of stay is 27 hours. There is 24/7 provider coverage in the unit. Care is provided for a diverse adult population, including both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients. Patients range from those requiring short stays to full admissions.
